1861 O LIBERTY SEATED HALF DOLLAR CERITIFED BY NGC TO BE FROM THE SHIPWRECK OF THE SS REPUBLIC The coin and packaging in the pictures is what you will receive. The coin is encapsulated in an NGC holder. The coin, a DVD (possibly a cd, it is sealed) about the ship, a beautiful presentation box and a certificate of authenticity are all included. During the Civil War the 1861 O Seated Liberty Half Dollars were minted in the New Orleans Mint under the Confederacy. During the war some of them made their way to New York. After the war some were loaded aboard the Steamship Republic. The SS Republic sank during a hurricane. In 2003 these coins were recovered using special equipment to preserve their condition and then certified by NGC. Please ask questions before bidding. USA Shipping includes insurance.
