1863 Public Surveys in Wisconsin and Minnesota

17 x 22 inch (43 x 55 cm) black and white lithogrpah survey ma . Us Government, Washington DC. Scale of 18 miles tot he inch. Done in Dubuque and dated October 1st, 1863. Signed in print by “Henry A. Wiltse, Surveyor General”. Overall condition is VG- wiht one vertical fold age-toned and a short edge tear (repaired ) lower left just entering the border

The progress of the Survey at the height of the Civil War. Many rivers named as are Indian Reservations and some towns. Eastern Wisconsin noted as “Menominne Cession of October 18th , 1848". Reference index upper right. Upper Minnesota noted as “Chipeway Lands”.
