Notes: Entertaining Blackwood's skit re-enacting the fictional death of Shakespeare incorporating various characters from some of his plays - The Taming of the Shrew, Merry Wives of Windsor, King Henry V, Midsummer Night's Dream, etc - and figures of significance of the time: Michael Drayton, a Warwickshire poet of great repute and friend of Shakespeare, Sir Walter Raleigh's eldest son, Walter, the Ardens, Shakespeare's relations on his mother's side; well documented Shakespearean haunts in and around Stratford and Wincot also feature: the Mermaid (a London tavern) and New Place - purchased by Shakespeare in 1597, for example.
