This is a fine bright copy that is a re-print of the original 1874 Third Edition.

The book highlights the activities of Lee's Army of Northern Virginia as seen through the eyes of the commander of one of the rear guard regiments.  It is a view of the cavalry soldier and his desperate effort to slow the relentless blue tide that would eventually sweep over them.
