These are 1875 steel plate engraved maps with outline hand color. Dated 1870, they are from a later edition of the justly famous Stieler Hand Atlas. The maps are each 11 x 14 with a narrow piano-key border. Very detailed. VG+ condition for both maps.
"Polynesien und der Grosse Ocean (East)" covers to just beyond Hawaii and includes several inset maps: Hawaii, Marquesas, Galapagos, Cocos, Society island to name a few (16 in all). The companion map covers the western Pacific and includes Australia, New Zealand, SE Asia and North tp Japan. Here there are 14 inset maps, including Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, Marianas and Norfolk island.
