1877 Antique Art Print Europe Politics New Year Cartoon

The Journal was a 19^th Century weekly magazine (similar to Punch).  The cartoon shows the 'New Year' (a youg boy) greeting Prime Minister Disraeli while John Bull (as a policeman) keeps a close eye on the Russian Bear lurking menacingly in the background. 

William Boucher was an artist by profession, but his ability to capture facial expressions and the costume styles of the day made him much sought after as an illustrator. 

The print measures 11 x 17 inches (28x43cm) is titled, dated and paginated.  It is in good condition for its age with minor blemishes confined to the border area.  The print is blank on the reverse but as a centre spread it does have a fold line - this does not detract from the overall quality and should be unnoticeable following mounting/framing.
