1878 Portrait Engraving ~ William Cullen Bryant ~ Poet

Here is a large original portrait engraving of William Cullen Bryant, American romantic poet and editor of The New York Evening Post.

Under the engraving, it says "Engraved by T. Cole" and is signed by him. It also says "Drawn by Wyatt Eaton" and it has his signature and date of Feby 1878 on the engraving.

In the bottom left corner, it says "The Century Gallery of One Hundred Portraits ~ WILLIAM CULLEN BRYANT: PLATE II ~ Copyright 1878, by Scribner & Co."

The overall size is 9 11/16" x 13 1/2". The printed area (including words) measures 7 13/16" high x 5" wide. The heavyweight paper has chipped, ripped, and creased edges with discoloration and smudges on the edges. The printed area is not affected. It would frame very nicely. It is blank on the back side.
