This is a 1880's Sterling Silver Simons Brothers Co. Wide Gold Band Thimble. In the apex (inside top) is the trademark for Simons Co. it is a tiny shield in the shape of an upside down bell with a script S in the middle. Above this it is stamped STERLING. It has a wide gold band with the size 9. In the second picture you will see a little sticker residue. Some collectors call these thimbles 'applied gold bands' but Simons made them by fusing together sheets of gold and silver for the thimble blank. After the thimble was formed, the thimblemaker cut away the gold above the band before applying the knurling. There are no holes but is a tiny bit out of round at the rim. The thimble is 13/16" tall, and the diameter of the opening is 10/16". The only thing I ask of the international bidders is that they please speak English and can communicate with me. I only speak English. As far as shipping I will only charge you what the auctual shipping is plus .50 cents for packaging. I do advise that you buy the insurance (except for the international bidders) in case the item is broken or lost in shipping. I will not be responsible. I would rather you pay with Paypal (this is the only way of payment I will except from international bidders), Money Order, And Checks (I will hold the package until the checks clears). I try to post new thimble auctions every Sunday, and mail your package on Thursdays. I will e-mail you when I mail your package.
