History of GSA Morgan Dollar:  These Carson City Dollars were discovered during a Treasury audit in 1964. The Morgan Dollars survived the massive coin melts of the early 1900's and were issued by the General Services Administration "GSA" of the last of the "Uncirculated" Carson City Dollars.  This 1882 CC "GSA" Morgan Dollar comes with a very nice original blue box.              

Coin Grade & Details: This 1882 CC GSA Morgan Dollar is Brilliant Uncirculated MS-64 grade with a gorgeous luster, beautiful contrast, very sharp details, above average strike, very full hairline, and full breast feathers. The lettering and date is bold and clear, many heavy clash marks, many die cracks, no rim dings or dents, superb eye appeal, and more desirable difficult to find rare Vam 3B Doubled Date & Ear, Clashed Obverse n & s, Die Break Cap variety. Vam Description: 1882-CC Early Die State "EDS" VAM-3B (Doubled Date & Ear, Clashed Obverse n & s, Die Break Cap) Vam 3B Obverse III23 · Reverse C3a (Doubled Date & Ear, Clashed Obverse n & s, Die Break Cap) (178) I-3 more interesting R-5 rare variety. The obverse III23  Doubled date with 1 slightly doubled below bottom crossbar. First 8 slightly doubled on left and right inside of upper loop. Second 8 and 2 doubled at top and upper left side. Date set close to rim. Ear slightly doubled at lower right inside and bottom outside. There is a diagonal die scratch from rim to the right top of  M in UNUM. There are multiple die clashes on neck with partial incuse "n" of In from reverse shows faintly next to Liberty head neck and faint partial incuse "s" from trust from reverse showing in right hair vee of lower hair edge. Note:  The Late Die State "LDS" shows a die crack thru wheat leaves with a displaced field above Phrygian cap.  This specimen is an Early Die State "EDS" with the die crack just starting to form thru the wheat leaves, but the displaced field has not yet formed above Phrygian cap.  The Early Die State "EDS" has very strong counterclashing at lips, chin, nose, and at back of cap ribbon end looks like lightning bolt.  The reverse C3c – The right C of mint mark is set low. There are two short diagonal die gouges on inside of eagle’s left wing next to body.  There are die breaks in the right wing below the "n" of In  motto on reverse.  Strong die clash mark going from right wing thru the n of In. Heavy clashing at the tops of right and left wreath clusters, displaced field on the right side of right wreath, with clashing on top of eagles head, and neck.  There is clashing above the top far right olive leaves with rippled surface.  Reference: The updates to the Encyclopedia of Morgan and Peace Dollars by Leroy C.
