Hello all!! 2008 is going to be an
incredible year for auctions!! It was a fantastic fall of cast iron collecting
this year! If you are not on my email list yet, I suggest you get on it, you
don’t want to miss out!! (Details below) THERE ARE 26
MORE ITEMS UP FOR SALE IN THIS AUCTION. I have banks ranging in age from 1880’s to the 1950's.
I generally collect but I have been having fun with these auctions so I’m
picking up “extras” when I find them now & offering them to all you
collectors out there on Ebay. I hit all the garage & estate sales, flea
markets, antique shows & some Ebay treasures!!!! I have banks manufactured
by all the major manufacturers. I also have branched out into some of my other
cast iron interests, mainly doorstops & paperweights but I have some
unexpected surprises as well. Always no reserve and starting at $.99 because I
feel the quality the items will speak for themselves and get a fair price. If you would like, send me your email & I
will add you to the list & notify you when I have an auction. I ONLY us
this info to send you info on my Ebay auctions, absolutely nothing else.
Check out my other safe bank up for auction now!
You
are bidding on a 1882 Kyser & Rex Japanese Safe bank.THIS IS THE RARE VERSION WHICH IS POLYCHROME HIGHLIGHTED #1667 IN MOORE'S. Louis Kyser and Alfred
C. Rex opened their company in 1879 in Frankfort,
PA. They manufactured iron
castings and hardware as well as banks. They were not the most prolific makers
of banks but they were among the very best!! Sadly, the company closed their
doors by 1898.
The
bank is in great shape for it’s age, brown lacquer paint with traces of RED polychrome colored highlights, it has a nice, deep patina. Excellent detail in the metal,
beautiful Victorian detail depicting Japanese life. A Dragon, birds, Pagodas, and a sailboat on a pond. The detail is absolutely beautiful! The locking mechanism is intact, works w/key!!!! This bank is in near
MINT condition which is a rare find. There are no cracks, chips, breaks,
repairs or damage of any kind. The seams are tight, even, the pieces align
well.5 1/2” high x 4 5/8” wide. In Moore’s
penny book #1667@ $300-400 in the 2008 edition!
I suggest to the winner to print a copy of this auction, it
will increase the resale value of your purchase tremendously having this
information as a hard copy along with the bank. You are paying for this
information, make use of it! Plus it’s fun to look back in 20 years and say I
only paid $200 for that way back when. Most of the banks today selling for
$200-$400 were $15-$50 in the mid 1970’s, big money when the reference guides I
have were printed.
Please
ask any and all questions before auction ends. No refunds for buyer’s remorse.
