You are bidding on a gorgeous Brilliant Uncirculated MS-64 1883 CC GSA Morgan Silver Dollar with VAM 5A Stage 2 (Doubled Date, CC/CC, Clashed Obverse n & t, Die scratch wing) I-3 higher interest and R-5 rarity rare variety. The Vam 5A is a more interesting rare variety and is more desirable to collectors and a difficult variety to find.  This 1883 CC "GSA" Morgan Dollar offers a gorgeous luster, very sharp details, superb eye appeal, and better Vam 5A variety to collect.  This 1883 CC Morgan Dollar is interesting that the Stage is not conclusive, because the clashed n & t are visible along with the starburst wing tips with metal still under the 18 in date.  

History of GSA Morgan Dollar:  These Carson City Dollars were discovered during a Treasury audit in 1964. These Morgan Dollars survived the massive coin melts of the early 1900's and were issued by the General Services Administration "GSA" of the last of the Uncirculated Carson City Dollars.  This 1883 CC "GSA" Morgan Dollar comes with are really nice blue box.              

Coin Grade: This 1883 CC GSA Morgan Dollar is Brilliant Uncirculated MS-64 grade with a gorgeous luster, beautiful contrast, very sharp details, above average strike, very full hairline, very full breast feathers, bold and clear lettering and date, no rim dings or dents, superb eye appeal, and more desirable difficult to find Vam 5A Stage ? Doubled Date, CC/CC, Clashed Obverse n & t, Die scratch wing variety. Vam Description: 1883-CC VAM-5A Stage 2 (Doubled Date, CC/CC, Clashed Obverse n & t, Die scratch wing variety.  The Vam 5A Obverse III2 2 - Reverse C3d (Doubled Date, CC/CC, Clashed Obverse n & t, Die scratch wing) (178) I-3 higher interest and R-5 rare variety.  The Obverse III22 the entire date is slightly doubled.  The 1 is doubled on surface of upper crossbar, on right side of vertical shaft and at top of bottom crossbar.  The first 8 is doubled on surface at left inside of both loops. The second 8 is doubled slightly at top right outside of lower loop on some specimens.  The 3 is doubled slightly on right side of upper ball and at bottom inside of lower loop.  There is a doubled dash under the 2nd 8 in date on this specimen in some Early Die States EDS, as is the metal in denticles on later die states under the 18 in date. On this specimen Vam 5A still has the metal under the 18 in date on this coin.  On Later Die States the metal in denticles below 18 is polished away. The ear is slightly doubled on right and left inside. The RIBUS UNUM obverse motto is slightly doubled on right side. This coin still has the starburst pattern at the eagles wing tips and has the clashed obverse n and t. The Obverse III2 2 has a clashed die with clashed n and faint partial incuse "t" from trust from reverse showing in right hair vee of lower hair edge.  The reverse C3d the space between wing tips and denticles are over polished with raised area and polishing lines referred to as "Starburst Wing Tip pattern.  The starburst pattern makes this coin Vam 5A Stage 2 but has the very clear clashed n from In reverse motto on obverse.  There is a die scratch across top of eagle’s left wing.  The first C in mint mark is doubled at bottom inside. The second C is doubled slightly at lower left of upper serif.  There is a horizontal die gouge inside eagle's mouth and thru the beak and another die gouge in denticles below DO of DOLLAR.  There are very strong polishing lines all over the reverse of this coin.  Reference: The updates to the Encyclopedia of Morgan and Peace Dollars by Leroy C.
