This auction is for a 1887 Tobin Color Lithograph of the Boston Beeneaters Legendary Hall Of Famer - King Kelly. King was a 19th century superstar who played all 9 positions in his career but prodominantly was a Catcher and Outfielder. These Tobin Color Lithographs are about the size of a postcard and show a caricature of a ballplayer on the front with this card titled "The Flower Of The Flock" and it displays Kelly in catcher's gear about to grab the ball. This 19th century card is a much more difficult item to locate than the more prevalent Old Judge cards of the players. The card is in very nice collectible condition with outstanding color and eye appeal displaying a strong overall central image. It is centered towards the bottom edge and has slightly rounded / frayed corners, a corner crease in the bottom left corner and a small edge tear on the top border. The back has advertising from a local clothes store and is stained probably from scrapbook removal although it is free of any paper loss on the surface. It has been professionally graded by Sportscard Guaranty an SGC 20 or FAIR 1.5 with far superior eye appeal.
