CONDITION
This book is in NEAR FINE + CONDITION. The book is bound in a green colored cloth with engraved black and gold gilt decorative work and lettering on the cover and spine. This wonderful FIRST EDITION is 120 years old and is in great shape. The lettering and design work are still clear, clean and very readable. The book has a wonderful engraved frontispiece and protective tissue paper with are clean and intact. The exterior of the book has a wonderful cover artwork. The book has only slight edge wear and has a small chip in the upper spine, but otherwise it's in super shape. The binding is tight throughout the book with both hinges and the interior binding still in great shape. The interior blank pages are printed on a heavy dark brown pager with other pages being printed on the normal paper. The pages fine with no writing, smudging, foxing, underlining, or library markings. The book is filled with over 150 wonderful woodcut engraved illustrations of the war’s participants, war scenes and maps. The author was a war correspondent for the entire war. The title pages indicates it was published in 1888, but the following page indicates the copyright was 1887. This is not an ex-library book. The book has 478 pages plus one more page that has book advertisements on it. The book measures 9 inches by 6 inches by 1 ¾ inches.
