Vam Description: 1888-P Top 100 VAM-11A Doubled Ear with Die Clashes Vam 11A Obverse III29 · Reverse C3a (Doubled Ear, Clashed Obverse n) ( ? ) I-3 higher interest R-5 rare variety.  The obverse III29 the ear is strongly doubled on right outside and large lobe and on right side of inner ear fill. There is slight doubling on hairline just above ear, top of cotton leaves and cotton bolls on right side. The date is in normal position.  There is heavy die clash marks around lips and neck with almost full incuse n and partial incuse I of In from reverse next to Liberty head neck.  The 1888-P VAM-11A Double Ear & Clash. This VAM variety has the doubled ear of VAM-11, but is a Later Die State "LDS" where the dies have clashed together and transferred design portions from the reverse onto the obverse.
