LEGENDARY HALL OF FAME HEAVYWEIGHT - EXTREMELY TOUGH CABINET - HIGHEST SGC GRADED (1 OF 1)

This auction is for a vintage 1889 Police Gazette Cabinet of the Legendary Hall Of Fame Heavyweight Boxer - John L. Sullivan. This extremely tough 19th Century Cabinet of Sullivan measures 4 1/4" by 6 1/2" and is one of three graded by SGC and the only SGC 50 (others are SGC 20 and SGC 30). The photo for the cabinet was taken by Richard K. Fox who also published the Police Gazette at the time. The Cabinet has been very well preserved over the years with a EX/MT photo that displays a little light but has minimun wear to the corners and tiny age or stain spots. The brown bordered mount is not as common as the black version and this cabinet included the "Richard K. Fox" facsimile signature and studio credits. The naturally rounded corners are slightly chipped and there is a small crease to the mount along the bottom left edge and a longer horizontal wrinkle / crease towards the bottom edge on the back. It has been professionally graded by Sportscard Guaranty an SGC 50 or VG/EX 4.
