1890’s H&F Paris Ornate French Shelf Clock

Condition:          This clock is old, but it is in good condition, in that the mechanism that swings the pendulum works, and it chimes…whether it keeps good time or not is unknown, because the pendulum has been removed (we do have the pendulum, and it will be shipped with the clock).  The clock is gilt metal, or steel covered with paint…the finish shows some wear, but is intact.  The glass and the metal are intact.  The screw that fastens the chime (or bell) in back of the clock is composed of two screws welded together, so this part may not be original…the torch on top of the clock does not look straight.  Also, one of the numbers in the clock face has been replaced.

Description:        The measurements of this gorgeous H&F Paris shelf clock are 17 ¾” by 10 5/8” by 5 3/8”…the face of the clock is 5 ½” in diameter…the clock weighs 15 to 20 pounds…the clock is made of gold-colored metal, with blue enamel or porcelain Roman numerals on the clock face…the clock is wound with two identical keys, and the pendulum was removed so that the clock mechanism would not be damaged during transport…the movement in back of the clock is marked H&F Paris 3052 and 187+ (and to the right is scratched 2042)…the numbers on the pendulum appear to be 9506 (2042 is scratched on the pendulum)…this clock is beautifully decorated with metal diamond pattern designs, ropes, and lions (see photographs).
