"National Tubular Axle" Farm Wagons
--- Another piece of the complexe John Deere story !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mansur & Tebbetts Implement Co., ---- St. Louis ~ Moline Hollow Axle Farm Wagon." From internet: ... As early as 1874, Mansur & Tebbetts in St. Louis bought "white" or unfinished buggies, painted and finished them for sale to customers. By 1890, sales grew to the point that a buggy factory was born, the Mansur & Tebbetts Carriage Manufacturing Company. ... A decade later, the Omaha branch of Deere, Wells & Company chose to represent two vehicle lines: the one from Mansur & Tebbetts in St. Louis plus the one made by the Velie Carriage Company in Moline. Founded by John Deere’s grandson, Willard Velie, the company manufactured a full line of "Wrought Iron Vehicles," which included buggies, carriages, surreys, driving wagons and spring wagons. / 1907 and 1911. In those few years, Deere acquired three separate wagon companies — Moline (Illinois) Wagon Company, Fort Smith (Arkansas) Wagon Company, and Davenport (Iowa) Wagon Company. ... Some collectors are quickly confused by the nearly identical names — the Deere & Mansur Company and Deere, Mansur & Company. The Deere & Mansur Company manufactured planters out of Moline. Deere, Mansur & Company was based out of Kansas City and became the first sales branch of the John Deere Plow Company in 1869. From 1877 to 1909, Deere & Mansur was a wholly-separate company. On January 6, 1910, it was officially consolidated under the overall umbrella of Deere & Company." =================================================================== Go to my SEARCH STORE and type in any word (try for example "horse" or "farm") Visit my store:
