This is a salesman's sample. The salesman would carry this to various towns to give an idea to potential buyers, what the full edition would contain. Inside the front cover is a sample spine of what the spine from leather bound version would look like. A sample of the cloth spined version is given on the book's back cover. The pages of this Prospectus, or sample book, have been selected from parts of the complete volume. One name is written in the section that the book agent used to log buyers.

Wear at spine ends and cover corners. Inner front end page is splitting for two inches. Tissue protector is present but almost detached. Some separation at binding between two of the plates. Spotting to rear cover.
