You are bidding on a vintage Knights Templar Medal. The top piece of the medal which is backed by a pin reads, "North Adams Mass. Boston 1895." The bottom piece of the medal has the usual K and T with a Sword and Crosses, but in the middle is a piece reading, "St. Paul Commandery." An image is stamped into this of a railroad train coming out of the Hoosac tunnel.
The Knights Templar Triennial Conclave was held in Boston and there was a great parade on August 27, 1895. I believe this was a Knights Templar medal for those attending the conclave. I found out that this medal is from the Saint Paul Commandery located in North Adams, Mass. The medal bears the tunnel and train design because North Adams was famous for having the largest railway tunnel, the Hoosac tunnel, in the country. The St. Paul Commandery of North Adams, Mass. took part in the great parade of 1895.
The medal measures 2 1/2" from top to bottom. The top piece is 1 1/4" wide and the bottom piece is 1 1/8" wide. The back of the medal reads, "Maker C. F. Irons Providence R."
This is beautiful historic medal and would be appreciated by anyone interested in Knights Templar or Masonic memorabilia. It may also appeal to the train buff because of the image of the railroad train coming out of the tunnel.
