A Charming sleek army green cloth with ornate gold floral gilding to border and a nice centerpiece, blindstamped border to back matching front, with moire white end pages and a wonderful frontispiece by Howard Pyle, and nice title page design, with 42 Stunning all time famous illustrations from various famous artists on photogravures and etchings, wood engravings and typogravures. Each separated by a tissue guard with an explanation about the illustration, gold page edges all around and a great selection of classic characters, and authors; impressive size!!!!

Starts with Cas'sio to Falie'ro; Some Plates included- Lorna Doone, bernhardt as cleopatra, ichabod crane, captain cuttle, catarina, the children in the wood, circe and her swine, claudio and isabella, columbus and his egg, daphnis and chloe, consuelo, dido on the puneral pyre, eombey, little ellie, evangeline, eve's farewell to paradise, egmont and clarchen, electra, ellen the lady of the lake, cymon and iphigenia, captain constigan, etc. Many more!!!
Condition is Excellent. Small wear to edges, pages are excellent. Overall, for over 110 years old its in Excellent condition!!!
