Published by MACMILLAN, London 1897 with 1896/1897 copyright verso to title page (as required for first edition...some of the material was published in magazine form in 1896, thus the earlier year is also shown). Illustrated throughout.

245 pages with 2 pages of publisher's adverts at back of book. Strongly bound if only slightly cocked with very clean dark blue (original) end-papers, no internal writing or bookplates.  Some foxing throughout, stronger to title page, top corners of some pages and to margins of many of the plates but not affecting most all of the illustrations themsleves. Gutter starting in several places but nothing loose or detached. 

Gilt on covers is nice and bright, quite clean. Gilt text on spine also nice and bright with only minor chipping to top and bottom of spine (larger chip/tear at bottom of spine but without loss).
