Bidding has ended on this item. Item:1897 Vintage Chinese Restaurant Menu, FIRST EVER? |
In doing some research, I believe this to be the first "Chinese Restaurant" in America. The menu dates to about 1897 and has an image on the front of "The First Man in Boston who Made Chop Suey 1879". This menu is for the Hong-Far-Low Reataurant in Boston. Inside is a complete menu for items for sale at this establishment. It includes Chop Suey and Tea as well as some desserts. Reverse has (2) Images of the interior of the restaurant which is totally decked out! I have tried to do some research on this item and I found an exhibit of early Chinese menus that was done in New York in 2005. It had a resaurant menu from this same place but their menu appears to be about 10 years later than mine, and it was the oldest one in the whole exhibit! Could be a significant item but I do not know the values of these types of things.
Shipping will be $4 and I gladly combine this with other items to save money. Item being sold by www.prewarsports.com All Items Guaranteed Authentic Forever!
