Postmarked November 3 (?), 1898, this card notified the recipient, one Siegfried Pels of Hamburg, Germany, of the sailing of the SS POWHATAN on November 23, 1898. The POWHATAN was one of the few ships of the Mediterranean & New York Steamship Company, which I believe was in business only from 1888 to 1905. The card is in remarkably nice condition, showing no tears or stains, though there is an insignificant corner crease. Buyer pays $1.00 postage/handling. Georgia residents add 6% sales tax.
