1899 LARGE SIZE $1 SILVER "BLACK EAGLE"- SUPER CRISP

This note is distinctively different from most Silver Certificates.  It is the 1899 $1.00 LARGE SILVER CERTIFICATE, in super condition! Known as the "BLACK EAGLE", it was issued only from 1899-1922, and is one of the most popular and desirable large size United States issues!

The note is crisp and very clean, has all 4 full corners. It has excellent color contrast with no writing, ink, tears or missing pieces. There are some light folds.  This is a really good, and exceptionally attractive example of old paper money especially for a large size note which are often pretty worn out when they are found.  The Blue Seal is Large, on the right side and is striking. The right side bears a large Blue "1". See stock photo. The central vignette is a large BALD EAGLE, with its wings spread, standing atop a furled US flag. The Capitol building is visible in the background. Just below the eagle are cameo portraits of Abraham Lincoln and Ulysses Grant! You can easily see why this note is called the BLACK EAGLE NOTE and is so very popular with collectors. This is a very nice grade for this note, which usually comes very worn with dirt and heavy folds and writing. It was a workhorse note of its day, when $1 was A LOT OF MONEY!

  Some retailers and Shop at Home TV charge as much as $499 for this note when they can find it.  This note does not come up for auction very often and in nice, crisp and clean condition and often sells for well over $300 even on Ebay!  So if you need it to add something special to your silver certificate collection this may be your only opportunity, don't let it slip by.
