ITEM: Special Appeal for the Fresh Air Fund

DATE: July, 1899

SIZE: 4 by 5 inches

COMMENTS: A folding brochure with contribution card laid in. The New York Association for Improving the Condition of the Poor has a summer residence called Sea Breeze at Coney Island. The Fresh Air Fund allows the Association to take an average of 1700 disadvantaged women, children and babies, on day excursions by the ocean trips to Sea Breeze. $5.00 a week will support a child at Sea Breeze for two weeks. R. Fulton Cutting was President of the Association, Leonard E. Opdyke- Secretary, Robert Shaw Minturn- Treasurer, and Frank Tucker- Gen'l Agent. The Fresh Air Fund, founded in 1877, still exists today.
