Striking 1901 USGS Austin TX Quadrangle

Scale: 1/125000

One of the Texas Hill Country Topo Series

This reproduction of the Travis County/Austin Texas area as surveyed in 1895-6 and published in the 1901 USGS Geologic Atlas is a snapshot of a central part of the turn of the century Hill Country. This superb map was created long before the dams, highways and city development changed the face of one of the prettiest parts of Texas. The city of Austin which is shown in very good detail even down to the major streets and the location of the Capitol, the old City Dam and the University, was a growing city. The railroads that served it, many of which are now long gone or relocated, are shown in detail.

The Pedernales River winds its way across the map through rough terrain and the topography work including the detailed elevation conturing at 25 foot intervals is unsurpassed, giving almost a birdseye or 3-D effect. The small towns and places including Volente, Cameron Ferry, Manor, Buda, Manchaca, Elysium, Duval, Saint Edwards University and many others are shown. Also shown are the fords, the ferry points, the mountain and terrain names. Many of the rural stores, schools, churches and ranches are also shown and named.

This map is one of several in our Texas Hill Country Topo Series. This series includes:

  • 1901 USGS Austin TX Quadrangle  Scale: 1/125000
  • 1909-11 USGS Burnet Quadrangle showing scenic and rugged Burnet and Marble Falls: 1/125000
  • 1909-11 USGS Llano Quadrangle showing the spectacular Llano area:  1/125000
  • 1894 USGS Blanco Reconaissance Sheet 1/125000
  • 1909 Double Topo combining the Llano and the Burnet~Marble Fallas Topos into one beautiful map.

These Hill country Topos are available in our eBay Store. Click here to see them.

The sample picture shown is at very low Internet resolution and reduced in size. It does not even begin to show the detail and quality of the actual map. All Antique Maps of Texas(tm) reproductions are scanned at 300+ dpi and offer fantastic resolution and detail even in reduced sized prints.

The Perfect Gift: As period decor, a business gift, and as a working map for writers, scholars, schools, historians, researchers.

Frame Size: The sheet size fits nicely in easily available stock frames. This large size is easily readable as well as creating a striking effect on den and office walls. All maps are printed on very heavy acid-free paper with archival inks. Beautiful in a frame, but also capable of withstanding continuous handling and everyday use.

While there is nothing like owning an original map, a quality reproduction offers access to almost unavailable maps, affordable pricing and the opportunity to actually use the map rather than just protect it. Unlike many cheap reproductions which are taken from easily available archives and reproduced on inferior poster paper or inflexible "parchment" for effect, all maps from Electric Books are professonal quality products on expensive high quality paper stock. In addition, we actually own or have the rights to all of the maps which we reproduce. They are direct :1 to :1 high resolution reproductions from the originals, not dowloaded copies of copies of copies...

Shipping: We ship our maps carefully rolled in a tube to US postal destinations only.
