POSTAGE AND HANDLING INFORMATION:
I ship First Class (small items under 13 ounces), Media Mail (books and movies), Priority, (items over 13 ounces) and Bound Printed Matter (magazines and catalogs) for US domestic, and all services offered for international, depending on the nature and size of the item. Because of the new postal rate hike effective 5/14/07, I am now using a buyer's zone (based on zip code) to determine shipping charges with Priority and BPM services. Because it would be labor-intensive (as in several weeks) to adjust P&H for all of my eBay store inventory items, for the time being, I am removing all postal charges from my listings and will determine them post-purchase (or before if you inquire). While I know that might be of concern to buyers, please note that I don't gouge buyers--check my feedback; I'm an experienced PowerSeller of long-standing with very happy customers. I'm also someone who hates to pay postage myself, so I know the pain points.
I charge exact postage (within a couple of ounces, since my scale might not be exactly the same as the post office's) and $1-$2 handling per item generally, with higher-priced and international items w/higher handling charges. I am running a business and the handling fee is not extra money that goes into the profit jar. It is a fee that helps defray operating expenses, including overhead, such as the fees associated with listing, selling, and receiving on-line payments. A $10 item costs $1.93 in fees--it's part of doing business. While I try to build in to the purchase price some of those fees, I don't even take into account my time listing and packing, finding inventory, gas to the p.o., packing materials, tape, labels, ink cartridges for my printer for label printing, etc. In fact, if I were to do that, my handling fee would be a lot more than it currently is.
When you make a purchase, eBay sends both you and me the same invoice. You will see that nothing has been added for P&H, so don't pay this invoice, but wait for the invoice that I create. It will look exactly like the first one you received, but it will now show the P&H. Once I receive notification that a purchase has been made, I will package up your item, weigh it, calculate the exact postage, offer you two or more services, as appropriate, add my handling fee, and send you an invoice. EBay notifies me of your zip code, so for Priority and BPM zoning, you don't need to do anything--just wait for my invoice. At the moment this is the easiest and quickest way to make my buyers aware of new postal rates and to allow me to generate adjusted invoices as items are sold. Please also note that $50 worth of insurance is now $1.65. So, for all my buyers, domestic and international, please just wait to get the second invoice from me.
Right now and for the next couple of months, my eBay store, DeVito's Books-TV Closeout Jewelry, is having a store-wide sale. It is my plan to clear my shelves and start with fresh inventory of never-before-listed items from my 23 years of collecting and buying. I will continue to mark down my inventory, so stop and shop often. Thank you. As always, if you have any questions, just give a holler.

6x8.5" color plate taken from an old textbook, this is titled Horses and shows a wild ass, a Burchell's zebra, a horse (thoroughbred) and a domestic donkey. Illustration is copyrighted 1902 by Dodd, Mead & Co., Julius Bien & Co. Lith. N.Y. The margin has been trimmed a bit across the top. Nice condition, great colors, minimal edge wear. Back has some paper residue from having been stored in a plastic self-adhesive photo page. This would be great matted and framed. I have three other prints from the same text in my eBay store right now, so please have a look. They would be great matted and framed as a group.
I have been selling antiques and collectibles for 22 years, and been selling on eBay since 1998. Please visit my eBay store DeVito's Books-TV Closeout Jewelry to see lots of listings of mostly vintage books for children and adults, vintage paper items, and what's left of my stock of new #1 home shopping channel's jewelry, along with some new women's clothing.
