Rare letter which really speaks to the violence in College Football which almost got it banned at this time period. The offered item is on the stationary of Doctor Lyman Allen of Burlington Vermont. The letter is dated November 17, 1902 and reads, "Mr. S.H. Newton was injured in the Football Game of November 15, 1902 and should not drill or have gymnasium work for some time- exactly how long I can not state, but certainly 2 weeks or perhaps a good deal longer." This was from a University of Vermont Football player and the game was against Wesleyan University which was a brutal 5-0 win for Vermont. Awsome item!
