THE U. S. S. BATTLESHIP OHIO

If your great granddaddy served on the Ohio, you have every right to be very proud and you need to frame this picture!!
As many of you know, I specialize in finding old stories of long ago that have been overlooked, seldom found and rarely read. Here is entitled SPEED TRIALS OF THE BATTLESHIP "OHIO" which appeared in this old American Magazine of 1904. Built by the Union Iron Works of San Franciosco the "Ohio" was one of the three powerful battleships of the "Maine" Class, authorized by Congress on May 4, 1898. Target date of the launch was in May of 1901, thus she is three years behind her contract. In her first speed fun, she also fell behind the expected target but was thought to be ready for approval at another trial. This is full of statistical information with facts and figures about guns, armor, draft, displacement, etc. The Ohio had a complement of 699 officers and men.
