TOUGH EARLY CABINET ISSUE - FAMOUS PHOTOGRAPHER

This auction is for a 1905-09 Carl Horner Cabinet of the New York Giants First Baseman - Dan McGann. This vintage pre-war cabinet of Dan measures 5" by 7 1/8" and comes from the famous studio photographer Carl Horner who also shot the Fan Craze, Colgan's Chips and T204 Ramly photos. The cabinet photo was taken sometime between 1902 and 1907 based on the time McGann spent with New York and Horner's studio being located at this Boston address. The central photo is in nice condition showing a rare non-portrait of McGann batting and it is free of any creases with a bold clear bold image in a turn of the century New York Giants jersey. The mount is in very nice condition with only a ding in the bottom left corner on the front and some edge chipping on bottom left edge on the back. Both the front and back of the mount and photo show some tiny stain spots of age spotting. The cabinet has been professionally graded by Sportscard Guaranty an SGC 50 or VG/EX 4. A rare cabinet opportunity for the advanced or vintage New York collector.
