Measuring
9½" x 6¼" (approx) and 2" thick this substantial volume is
beautifully bound in gilt decorated cloth.

The
boards and spine have the usual shelf-wear for a book of this age
with some rubbing to the extremities, typical corner bumping and marking.
There is some colour loss to the outer edges of the boards.
The
binding is firm and the text block is tight with a couple of pages
working loose - not unsurprising for a volume of this size and
weight. Similarly, the
paper at the gutter of the front and rear inner hinges has split
but the text block is firmly held by the chords and webbing.
There
are 450 paginated pages and the pages are generally
clean with the occasional spot and smudge and typical browning to the end papers.
There
is a neat inscription dated 1909 on the front endpaper.

This
book contains numerous full page engravings illustrating scenery,
manners and customs in Judea, Egypt, Assyria and Rome. |
