1905 VACHERON & CONSTANTIN POCKET WATCH - 47MM, 18K GOLD Finest Man's Watch - Beautiful Near Mint Condition
Since the early 1800's, the elite Swiss firm Vacheron & Constantin has had as it's motto "Do better if possible... and that's always possible." The result of their carrying out this commitment has led to the development some of the most exceptional timepieces in the world.
As the world's oldest watchmaker, Vacheron & Constantin sets the bar for what constitutes a world-class timepiece. Prized by royalty, heads of state, and prominent public figures, their timepieces rank as the most exclusive and expensive in the world. Rapidly appreciating in value, the best examples are sought by serious collectors, Hollywood celebrities, and anyone desiring to wear a world-renowned timepiece.
In contrast to modern Vacheron & Constantin watches that can be purchased at various jewelry boutiques around the world, exceptional examples of their vintage pieces are extremely difficult to find and command top-dollar prices. Their scarcity results from Vacheron & Constantin's incredible attention to detail and strict quality standards, which limited their production capacity around the turn of the century to only twenty to thirty timepieces per day.
The Vacheron & Constantin showcased in today's auction is an exceptional example of one of these important pocket watches, specially made for J.R. Reed & Co. of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. From the full size, 18K case, to the stunning dial and world-class movement, each component of this fine piece embodies the quality and style one expects from one of the world's finest watchmakers.
We were fortunate to acquire this wonderful pocket watch in such amazing condition. The solid 18K gold case is near mint condition; the silver dial is near mint, and the high-grade, Vacheron & Constantin movement is clean and running strong.
We have fully serviced the watch and timed it a state-of-the-art platform. Amazingly, it continues to run at near perfect levels, keeping time within a few seconds per day. Included with the watch is a full one-year warranty on the movement and its function.
