Beautiful original circa 1906 Ferry Field Entrance cabinet photo. This was the new Football Field at the University of Michigan and it was a wonder of the Sporting World when it opened, which is probably why they made cabinet photos of the entrance. Beautiful Victorian era architechture brick and iron entrance with the name "Ferry Field" above the gate. The iron dividers and ticket windows are visible and there is even remnants of a poster on the brick which appears to be one of those freshman hazing posters as it look to reads "FROSH!". They held those push-ball contests and other class games at Ferry Field which would put this right during Fall or THE FOOTBALL SEASON. Cabinet photo is typical of the 1905-1910 era with an ornate mount that fits the photo perfectly. Back is blank other than the word "Michigan" written on it. Measures about 6X4 inches and condition is pretty good for the age with no creases or other major flaws. This is the only cabinet photo of the entrance of Ferry Field I have ever seen and it is a great piece of early Michigan Football history. Guaranteed circa 1906.
