San Francisco California Commandery #1...Knights Templar...Masonic Fraternal Group Parade Dress Ostrich Plumed Chapeau. Designed and worn exclusively by this all Horse-mounted Templar unit...from the 1880s thru the 1950s...they established their uniform for the look of a mounted "Musketeer"...to coincide with its Spanish roots in California. The chapeau interior is made of stiff lacquered buckram material with a black silk-plush "beaver fur-like"material covering ...which simulates the look of 1850s-90s Beaver Trade hats. Black silk-ribbon trimmed edges. Front flap is folded up with a sterling silver KT Maltese Cross on a circular red velvet/silver gimp/black ruching ribbon backing. One large 8"x22" long white curled ostrich plume on two 4"x18" black curled plumes grace the top of the hat. "Chromed leather" sweatband...with white silk lining inside...makers printed logo: "B.Pasquale Co., Post St., San Francisco"...." Military & Society Goods"(old uniform maker from 1854 to late 1960s).  Some will even have original owners name also inside. These hats were made just before & after the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake between 1904 and 1923 per research of the makers street addresses...many having survived the '06 Quake event itself...!! Excellent condition...thru-out...almost as day it was made!! One BIG BEAUTIFUL late 19th Century thru early 20th Century piece of US headgear...that has to be seen up-close to be fully appreciated...!! .............Current Head-Sizes:   7,  7-1/8, 7-3/8, 7-1/2 .....ONLY....while they are available...!!
