A SPECIAL NOTE TO INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS

  • Please be aware that many countries place either full prohibitions or restrictions of some sort on coins and precious metals (whether manufactured or un-manufactured.)

  • Please check the USPS website to view a list of countries and any prohibitions or restrictions related to your country. If your country prohibits the shipping of these items into your borders then I will be unable to ship to your address. Unless you have a shipping address in a country which does not prohibit or restrict this item, please don’t bid. I don’t wish to have your purchase seized as contraband by your customs agents and I certainly do not wish to have the US Postal Inspectors knocking on my door.

  • Please understand that these restrictions are not my choice, they are decisions made by the authorities in your home country.

  • In order to meet the requirements of most countries which allow shipping coins and precious metals, the items must be shipped Priority Mail International and insured. Please contact me in advance for estimated shipping and insurance costs to your country. Also note that for some shipping destinations the USPS limits the amount of insurance coverage available so please bid accordingly.

In answer to a couple of frequently asked questions:

Q. Is the coin in the picture the one I will receive?
A. The pictures accompanying each listing are the actual coin being auctioned. I want you to be able to judge for yourself whether you can live with all the “warts” (if any), before you bid. I am not a professional grader and I deliberately attempt to "downgrade" rather than upgrade my auction descriptions (with the aid of the Photograde book and online research at the PCGS and NGC websites), unless the coin is certified by one of the major third party graders, at which point I list using their grade.

Q. Does the coin look like it does in the picture - colorwise?
A. I do not alter the colors of the coins in the images. The scans are frequently (at least on my monitor) a pretty good representation of the color(s) in the actual coins. If the images do not closely resemble the coin, I make note of that fact in the description.

Q. Has this coin been cleaned?
A. The prior owner deeply respected his collection and would have done nothing to diminish its value. Given the patina which appears in the details on many coins in the collection, I would be very surprised if any had been cleaned. I have done no cleaning since the coins came into my possession.

Q. Is this coin authentic?
A. To the best of my knowledge all of the coins were purchased from reputable dealers and are in the original enclosures from the time of those purchases; many of those purchases going back more than 50 years.

Q. Should I get the insurance on my purchase? How do I add it?
A. While I have so far left it optional for US bidders, I strongly recommend insuring your purchase(s). If you are not using PayPal, I will be happy to send you an invoice to include the insurance cost. If you are using PayPal and insurance does not come up as an option, I will be more than happy to send you an Invoice to include insurance. The insurance cost is exactly as detailed on the USPS website.

Q. No store? No Buy It Now?
A. As a long time eBay member I tend to believe in the auction format for letting the market decide. For that reason, I don't use the storefront or buy it now options. I also do not end auctions early and sell "off auction," so please don't even ask.
