This 1916-D key-date Mercury Dime has been authenticated by NGC and placed in their new "Details" holder which includes a notation for the issue with the coin (Bent) that prevented it being awarded a grade. The coin was in a large estate collection that we just started sorting through in early October. It came out of an album that we were told had not been opened in over 40 years and boy did it look it. The moment we saw the coin we thought it was in About Good condition and appeared ever so slightly bent. We first sent it into NCS for conservation to safely remove the years of junk that had accumulated on its surface then on to NGC for encapsulating in their new premium edge view holder.  A rare find that may well be the crown jewel in someone's treasured Mercury Dime collection.

We also have a 1942/41 Mercury Dime with Very Good details in auction this week that came out of the same album along with two 1909-S VDB Lincoln Cents that came out of Lincoln Cent albums in the same collection.
