1917 TULIA (a) H3-4 Meteorite from Texas 3.5g
3.5 gram part slice of Tulia (a), an interesting H3-4 chondrite found in Swisher County, Texas, USA in 1917. A Total Known Weight (TKW) of 23.8 kilograms was originally found as many masses at coordinates 34°37' N., 101°57' W. There is a little bit of confusion in regards to TKW because unpaired meteorites have been found in the same vicinity. I suspect the TKW is somewhat less than the recorded amount because of the perplexity of the situation. To add to the confusion, it was originally classified as an H5 but has since been reclassified as an H3-4. Weathering and shock level data were not included in the official classification. This specimen comes with an identification card from The Hupé Collection.

A Special Note on Authenticity:
I carry an officer’s position on the board of directors for the International Meteorite Collectors Association (IMCA), a nonprofit corporation that adheres to the strictest standards of authenticity. I have been a member of the IMCA since the beginning, was elected by my peers to serve as Secretary over two years ago and adhere to the most stringent Code of Ethics in the industry. My IMCA number is 2185, which can be referenced on the IMCA website at:
http://imca.cc/
Or the director’s page at: http://imca.cc/index.php?option=com_cb_search&task=usersList&listid=4&Itemid=7
Be sure to look for the IMCA logo or an IMCA number when purchasing meteorites from dealers as this is your guarantee of authenticity. There is nothing worse than a buyer getting taken by an unscrupulous con artist operating here on eBay. This hurts collectors and honest dealers, alike. CUSTOMERS FROM ITALY: The only way I will ship to ITALY is USPS Global Express at a cost of $35.00. Almost every package is tied up for months when shipped to Italy and I can no longer afford to do business this way so please do not bid unless you are willing to cover the tracking costs provided by USPS Global Express.
Please Read Important Shipping Information:
A US Priority Mail fee of $4.80 will be added to the final auction price unless total purchase exceeds $300.00 in which case the shipping costs will be $5.45 which includes Delivery Confirmation. An international USPS Airmail fee of $6.20 which includes a new sturdy shipping box will be charged in addition to final bid price for those overseas. Shipping to Canada and Mexico is $5.20. If international purchases exceed $500.00, USPS Global Express shipping will be utilized which costs $35.00, includes Delivery Confirmation and a Tracking Number. We combine shipping on multiple orders. Please wait until the end of the auction session and we will promptly send an invoice including combined shipping. We ship the vast majority of items within one business day of payment.
A special note to our friends Overseas: It has been our experience that about 1 in 42 packages are delayed in International Customs for some reason. Although packages are most often shipped within 24 hours of payment and usually arrive within a week or two, it may take up to eight weeks when using USPS Airmail. Please opt for USPS Global Express if packages need to arrive more quickly or you want them to be tracked. I cannot be responsible for any delay or loss of shipments overseas if Global Express is not opted for at a cost of $35.00.
Thank you very much for looking and if you are bidding, good luck!
