Vintage Bronze "Speak-A-View" Door Knocker. 

This Piece is in Very Good Condition. There are areas of wear on the back and sides of the piece. Green metallic deposits as well. The label on the peephole reads "Hoover HDWE. Products Co. Hoover Speak-A-View Chicago Pat Pend". This piece is from the mid 1920's and was advertised as a Life Time Guaruntee home security device. This piece was originally wrapped in newspaper, which was a Chicago Times page from 1929.

The door knocker plate measures about 6-1/2" (16-1/2cm) tall by about 3-1/4" across (8-1/4cm). The "Speak-A-View" window piece measures about 3-1/2" across (9cm) in diameter. There are supposed to be screws with this piece, but they have been lost.

Excellent security devise for furnishing an apartment complex. All hinges in good working condition. This piece does not come with instructions however.
