Here’s a beauty! A Japanese porcelain vase with exquisite hand-painted Art Nouveau decoration and accented in gold, early Taisho era, in excellent condition.
Molded translucent white porcelain, low bulbous form with ‘drawstring’ neckband and scalloped rim, Over-glaze decorated in luster enamels in a pattern of interlaced ribbons outlined in black reminiscent of a Celtic knot and gold irises or fleur-de-lis on a mauve ground. A gorgeous example from the height of the Art Nouveau era.
This auction closes on Wednesday evening (eastern time).
Marks: No makers mark.
Date: 1910 -1925.
Condition: Excellent. Gold is slightly worn in places, particularly along the points of the scallops on the rim. A few light scratches to the mauve. Absolutely no cracks, chips, hairlines, losses or repairs.
