Up for auction is a snapshot / photo showing two women in a Harley Davidson motorcycle, 1920s. The photo measures 2.75" x 4.5", is in very good condition. Good detail shows Charlotte "Charlie" Biggs and her lover Lola Kuper riding the bike on their chicken ranch in California. Some notations on the back identify them - "raised chickens and hogs", and "Charlie sold the Harley to Lenny Briscoe" in 1928 or 29 (see third photo). Although a bit faint, the "Harley Davidson" lettering on the tank is legible, and the number 110 (?) is to the left of Charlie's leg. Are these the original "Dykes on Bikes"? From the estate of a man whose aunt was Charlie Biggs - the man apparently lived with them and helped on the ranch when he was young. Buyer pays $1.25 shipping and handling in the US. |
