Up for auction is a rare 1920's walnut Victor Victrola Model VE8-30S. It is very ornate, and has beautiful original finish. The very low serial number for this piece is 994. This was the "Cadillac" of Victrolas in the 1920's. The Victrola is electric and also has accomodations for a radio. The original finish on the walnut case is in very good condition. A padded record holder is in place on the left side of the motor board. The carving is intact. There are a couple of blemishes in the finish on the top. The back is missing (see picture). Two doors open to reveal the speaker in the middle. The 2 side doors open and have all the original record holders intact. In addition, all of the records that the people owned are in the sleeves. The hard plastic gear in the back, which is for switching from phonograph to radio is broken (see picture). It does not affect the playing of the phonograph. This Victrola was bought at an elderly lady's estate sale, and had been in storage for quite a while. The top of the holder for the player arm has been broken. We removed it, and replaced it, so it can be repaired if someone has one. The back wire has fraying, so the Victrola probably needs to be rewired. We are not experts about Victrolas. We would welcome any information from knowledgeable bidders, and would be happy to add the factual information to our description. The Victrola is 46" tall. It measures 31 1/4" wide and 22" deep across the trim board. The case is 29 1/2" wide, and 20 3/4" deep. Free long term storage is available for the winning bidder, after payment is made. The Victrola is being sold as local pickup only, however if you are on our travel route, delivery might be a possibility. We are located near Effingham, Illinois, which is at the crossroads of interstates 57 & 70. Please email with your city and state if you would like to see if you are on our travel route. the winning bid is a contract. The winning bidder is expected to complete the
transaction by making payment.

If the buyer feels an item has been misrepresented, we ask that the he/she notify us within 3 days after receipt. We will work with you on resolving the problem. We ask that potential buyers ask any pertinent questions, as their level of expertise might bring to light condition issues that we might not be aware of.

International bidders: Before bidding, please email for a shipping quote. Due to availability of protection for the bid price of our buyer, and paypal protection for the payment transaction, priority mail international is the method we use for international shipping.

Terms:Shipping costs include a small handling fee and insurance. Shipping costs are not refunded.
Shipping is generally done on Thursday and Friday. Fed Ex packages are dropped off at a Fed Ex Store about 20 miles from our home. If you are interested in having your packages, especially Fed Ex packages, shipped the Thursday or Friday directly after the end of the auction, you will need to make payment ahead of time to allow us time for packing. Priority mail is generally used for items of value over $100, due to availability of insurance. If you are requesting your package be sent to a different address from your regular ebay/paypal address, be sure to request this in a separate email from paypal payments.

The phonograph DOES WORK. We received information from a kind ebay member who has expertise in Victrolas. We learned that the broken piece affects the radio, not the working of the phonograph. We plugged the Victrola in and the turntable does spin.
