1922 ADVERTISING CALENDAR PLATE Duncannon Pa Up for bid is an old calender plate from 1922 that was issued for Sylvester S. Sheller, DUNCANNON, PA. (as noted on the front of the plate). The plate features an American Flag flying proudly in the center. The calendar pages are centered at the top and are highlighted with pink roses. The plate has an embossed edge and is trimmed in gold. The underside is marked D. E. McNicol EAST LIVERPOOL, O. X E P. Plate measures 9" in diameter. Condition: Unfortunately it does have a little bit of damage. Specifically, there are three small shallow chips along bottom edge (see arrows in photo). This damage is somewhat less obvious because of the embossed /scalloped edge. The plate also has some staining around edge . There is crazing within the glaze, and scattered utensil marks across the surface, some of which have darkened, as have some of craze lines. Also, one will notice rubbing and color loss on flag and on writing in caption. Gold is worn around the edge, and calendars show rubbing at inner edge. On a positive note...there are no cracks in plate. I am hoping that even with the damage and wear the plate can be enjoyed by a collector. It is a nice old advertising piece with patriotic theme. And may be special for collectors from the burough of Duncannon ( located in Perry County Pennsylvania) or anyone familiar with the Sheller business or family name.
