This auction is for a 1922 Montgomery Ward's Golden Jubilee Catalogue reprinted in 1969. It contains 670 pages of merchandise with prices. I chose a number pages at random to photograph in order to give you an idea of the scope of this wonderful old book. It includeds many necessities and luxuries from from nearly every category of item a person could need or want. In 1922 most of the population in the U.S. lived on farms an ranches and mail order was the way most people shopped. I guess this was like an early day shopping mall but located on your kitchen table. According to elderly folks I have talked to, the arrival of the Montgomery Ward and Sears & Roebuck Catalogues was highly anticipated as ladies wanted to see the latest fashions in clothing, kitchen appliances, and furniture and the men looked forward to the tools, guns, rifles, horse tack, and other sporting goods. This would make a fantastic reference book for any one wanting to research antique and vintage fashion clothing for men, children, and women, toys, timepieces, jewelry, equine tack needs, vintage hunting and fishing items, transportation parts, automobile bodies, appliances, including stoves and other household needs. The book measures about 9 1/2 by 13 1/2 inches and weighs about 5 3/4 lbs. It is in very good shape for its age although there are some stains and nicks to the cloth cover. I did not notice any rips or tears to any of the pages but I may have overlooked some. The index page has some pencil marks on it. (see Pics.) This is a 1969 reprint of an original catalogue. You will enjoy may hours looking through this old book and discovering items your grandparents and great grandparents may have owned, and also, you may marvel the seemingly low prices compared to modern prices that we pay for the same type of items. Please see all of the photographs. If you have questions please email me before bidding. I accept Paypal, Cashiers checks and money orders.
