Up for auction this week AT NO RESERVE is my rare 1926 Martin 000-18 mahogany acoustic guitar serial number 25897 with original Hardshell case. She is a 12 fret, slotted headstock guitar This guitar is in good overall condition, is a fantastic player with a loud and rich tone that fills the room. Here is what I know about her: The neck is fantastic- super straight and is what I would call a medium profile-not clubby at all like many of the early Martins, and certainly not skinny. Great action-3/32 at the 10th fret, and plenty on the saddle. No need for a neck reset in my opinion. The finish on the neck is original, and the neck is really spectacular with no breaks or cracks. Ebony fretboard is excellent. The body has had cracks and repairs, and I've provided all angles to show. There are several crack repairs on the sides, but none on the top, one patch in the lower bout, and one in the Adirondack top. The top has very little of the usual bellying, the pyramid bridge is not lifting at all, and the guitar handles steel strings well. The Martin has evidence of minor light respray on the sides and top (around the repairs). The back is all original and crack-free. I question the originality of the tuners, nut and saddle, and of course the added pickguard, but believe everything else to be original. All in all, areally nice old Martin 000 and a great player that stays in tune, and has great harmonics. Original purple lined hsc included in sale
