This beautiful vase stands 7 1/2” tall and is about 6 1/2” at its widest. It is glazed in shades of burnt oranges and browns with raised designs. I don’t know the name for this style, but it is unique and lovely. It has the appearance of some sort of foliage, a bit like catails, but not, with a glaze technique that appears sort of mottled.

I see absolutely no chips, cracks or damage on this piece. It is as if it was never used - even the inside is extremely clean.

It is signed with William Ernst Hentschel’s initials, dated with roman numerals 1927, has the model number 2969

and has the Rookwood logo. Hentschel (1892 - 1962) was an early 20th century modernist who attended and later (in the 1920s) taught at the Cincinnati Art Academy, while working at Rookwood. His daring artistic foresight made him an important design voice for Rookwood and his work is zooming over high estimates at auctions today.
This exquisite vase was found in a Northern Michigan estate sale and belonged to a man who was a banker from Dayton, Ohio and summered up north here for many years.
Paypal, Money orders and Personal checks (item held until check clears the bank) are accepted. Winner pays actual shipping and insurance, which I will finalize on the invoice, since it depends on the zip code of the winner. Thanks for looking and good luck! Feel free to ask any questions.
