"FUNNY BACK"



 

This is one of the last with the so-called "Funny Back" Silver Certificates.  When the Series 1935 came into circulation, the reverse had been altered to one we are more familiar with today.  As time passed and they became more common, the older type was more rare and people referred to it as having a "funny back", which really meant just "older version" - at least at first.  These are now very hard to come by and demand a premium price.
