This beautiful early Indian Head gold coin is a brilliant GOLD BLAZER with a very attractive gold color. It is hard to believe that these coins were once carried in peoples pockets and used as money. It is hard to find these mint state specimens that are in the same never circulated condition they were in when they were first minted by the US Mint nearly one hundred years ago. The $2.5 and $5 Indian head coins have always been a favorite of collectors and they have the unique design that is incused into the surface of the coin. Historically, every other U.S. coin had its features raised above a flat surface. Only these two coins feature the recessed "incuse" design. For that reason, they are two of the most unique gold coins in American history. The coin is certified by ANACS a leading certification company. Serial #1466491.
