(movie458) This matchcover set is from the Diamond Match Corp. Group 1 Second Movie Set, Type I, featuring Leo Carrillo. Traditionally, the front panel showed a photo of the movie star with a brief biography on the back. The inside is blank.
This matchcover is NEAR MINT & UNSTRUCK with the matches removed. There is some minor handling present as seen in the image, but nothing too serious. You are viewing the outsides of the FOUR matchcovers in this set.
The back panel of each matchcover reads: Leo Carrillo - Born in Los Angeles, graduated from St. Vincent Loyola University. Is a champion swimmer. Broke into pictures in 1929. Has appeared in "History Is Made At Night", "52nd Street," "I Promise to Pay", "Viva Villa", "Four
Frightened People", "The Winning Ticket" and others. His hobbies are ranching, cattle raising, big game hunting, is a good painter and musician. Now appearing in "Manhattan Merry-Go-Ground" from Republic.
[Second Movies (Type I) -- A set of Motion Picture Stars matchcovers issued by The Diamond Match Co. The stars appear in an oval frame with silver side pieces and base, resembling a swing picture frame. The star's name is in script on the saddle between silver bars. The history of the star's career is on the back of the matchcover without a frame effect and with a phantom cameraman and director in a chair, printed over the wording. Several stars appear on more than one matchcover but with different histories. Colors include light green, red, light blue, and orchid. The one line manumark reads THE DIAMOND MATCH CO., N.Y.C. and there are 48 known matchcovers in this set.]

For PayPal invoices totaling $15.00 or more, domestic U.S.P.S. insurance is required.
3. Winning Bidders & Customers: It is your responsibility to insure that bill@matchcovers.com and cj@matchcovers.com are added to your address book or e-mail safe list; otherwise, you may not receive important sales/payment information from us, an invoice for which is sent the morning after the auction or sale ends.
3. Basic Domestic Shipping & Handling: Due to new increased postal rates for packages, one to three matchcovers can be shipped for $2.35. If you are buying four or more matchcovers or any number of match books and/or postcards, please contact us first for the shipping rate. U.S.P.S. Priority Mail and Express Mail are available.
4. Combining Sales: Upon request (for store and/or auction purchases made within a 7-10 day period), we will send a "combined" invoice which may reflect reduced shipping and handling costs.
5. Optional Insurance: Available. Please check your e-invoice. Every winning lot shipped is securely packed; however, Matchcover Connection/Matchcover Connection Too assumes no responsibility for any item if insurance is waived.
6. International Customers: PLEASE CONTACT US FOR CURRENT SHIPPING RATES BEFORE BIDDING. USPS Global Priority shipping is available to most countries. Insurance may also be available.

One Further Note: (For matchcover sales) We do not remove the matches from these older matchcovers. Through the years, the tradition in the hobby has been to collect mostly matchcovers rather than full match books. This was probably due to their ease of storing, mailing and display. When a full match book survives the test of time, it is listed as a full match book with the matches retained. We sell what we describe. It is your responsibility to read our listings and ask questions if necessary.
