This jolly old
elf has been down the chimney a few times…he’s a bit faded and soiled, but oh,
what character! And he has a broken romance in his history, as well… He was
given to a young man in the 1930s by his then girlfriend, who later broke up
with him. Reminded of his lost love, the fellagave the doll to his young niece, who has had it all these years.
Santa stands 25” tall. He has a molded, hand-painted cloth
face with a mohair beard. His left cheek is punched in. The suit and cap are of flannel, now faded to
a real antique copper/orange. The belt is paper covered with black plastic,
with a metal silver-colored buckle. Santa’s boots are painted black and are
weighted so he can stand alone. His body is stuffed with straw. There are a
fewstains on his hands, but he is rich
with personality! He displays beautifully, especially with other antiques—picture
him with an old sled piled with gifts…Similar Santas book at $200.00 and above.
