Rare & unusual Pre prohibition wood bottle prototype

This is what I believe is a prototype for a liquor bottle. It is a one piece wooden turned on a lathe bottle. It measures app. 9 1/2" tall. It has part of an label(??) on it that you can see that says" Federal Law              (s) ale or Re-use  f this bo(ttle). I am guessing Federal Law prohibits the sale or re-use of this bottle. The top is embossed LX 2416V. This bottle is in excellent condition with a few small wear rubs/scratches. Not sure if this was for whiskey, gin or what. Great bottle collection go with! I am sure pretty uncommon and maybe even rare.

Information from a fellow Ebayer- Hello. Some info on your item. It was made by Owens Illinois glassworks....you can see the O.I emblem of the diamond and cirle on the top. It is a wooden core for a sand casting, for making the iron mold for the bottle. so the wood (bottle) is a direct takeoff of the glass bottle final product. I dont know how rare this would be, but I wouldnt think there are a lot of these cores out there. as the glass companies mostly destroyed them when finished with them..........Andy

Information taken from the Owens Illinois website: The Owens Bottle Company was created in 1903. That was the year Michael J. Owens invented the automatic bottle-making machine, revolutionizing the entire glass-making industry with its most important development in more than 2,000 years. Not since the invention of the blowpipe in 50 B.C. had the world of glass been transformed by such brilliance and innovation. Upon the invention of his machine in 1903, Owens formed the Owens Bottle Company and began production in Perrysburg, Ohio.

In 1929, the Owens Bottle Company merged with the Illinois Glass Company to form the Owens-Illinois Glass Company. In 1965, the corporate name was changed to Owens-Illinois, Inc., (O-I) to reflect the company's broader range of operations, including its successful entry into plastics package manufacturing.
